The Investment Data Toolkit: Designing Future-Ready Operating Models for Super Funds

Superannuation funds are navigating increasing complexity as they diversify across a broader range of asset classes and investment strategies. This session will explore how a “Toolkit” approach combining the right mix of [investment] data and technology can support the design of flexible, agile, and future-ready operating models that evolve with the needs of modern superannuation funds.

Peter Sherriff, Director of Product Strategy, Asia Pacific for Charles River Development and Clayton Issitt, Head of Alpha Client Solutions, Asia Pacific, State Street will provide their experience and insights. Cara Brosnan, State Street’s Head of Sales, Australia and New Zealand, will then facilitate a panel discussion including fund executives.

Peter Sherriff

Director of Product Strategy, Asia Pacific, Charles River Development

Having worked in the financial and technology industries for more than 26 years, Peter joined Charles River in 2002 where he was responsible for establishing the support function in the London office for non-US clients. In 2004 Peter moved to Australia to establish the Asia Pacific operations before moving into the role of principal architect for APAC in 2008. In 2020 Peter transitioned into the role of director, product strategy for Asia Pacific where he uses his experience of the business, product and client base to identify strategic opportunities for enhancements to the Charles River IMS for prospect and client organisations. Prior to joining Charles River, Peter held a number of development and client services positions at Misys Asset Management Systems.

Clayton Issitt

Head of Alpha Client Solutions, Asia Pacific, State Street

Clayton Issitt leads the State Street Alpha APAC client solutions team with over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Business Administration from Kansas State University. His team is responsible for managing all aspects of the solution design, leveraging a consultative approach to drive client-focused outcomes across the Asia Pacific region. With a keen focus on enablement through bringing together technology with human services, his remit includes leading client discovery workshops and engagements as well as design and review of client target operating models and business architecture. Clayton has been based in the Sydney office since 2011, having held a number of roles across fund/portfolio operations, client service, technology, implementation and business development. He has also represented State Street Australia on the Australian Custodial Services Association’s (ACSA) data task force. Clayton joined State Street in 2008 in Kansas City.

Cara Brosnan

Head of Sales, Australia and New Zealand, State Street

Based in Sydney, Cara is head of sales for Australia and New Zealand. In her role, she is responsible for driving sales growth across all client segments in Australia and New Zealand. She is also a member of the Australian management team. Cara has over 20 years of experience in sales and business development in the financial services industry with extensive experience in sales management and execution. Prior to joining State Street, she spent 11 years with HSBC holding roles in London, Sydney and Hong Kong covering Asset Managers and Asset Owners and most recently served as the regional head of insurance sector sales for HSBC Securities Services in Asia Pacific. Whilst based in Hong Kong, she was responsible for leading HSBC's custody and fund administration growth in the Insurance and Asset management sector across Asia. Prior to joining HSBC, she held roles in London and New York, including an EMEA Sales role for Thomson Reuters. A strong advocate for women in leadership and diversity, Cara currently co-chairs State Street’s ID&E chapter for APAC. Cara holds a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Limerick, Ireland.

Jay Jadeja, Senior Manager, Investment Data & Governance and Operations, Rest

Jay currently leads the Investments Data Governance and Operations team at Rest. In this role, Jay delivers data-driven analysis, reporting, and insights to enable market-leading investment data management and decision-making across the end-to-end investment lifecycle. His primary focus is on adopting and embedding sound data management practices into the operation of investment data solutions, ensuring appropriate operating model controls are in place to deliver accurate and complete data to the investments organization.

Previously, Jay has held various delivery management roles within Wealth Management and Super, with a focus on data and analytics delivery. His extensive experience and commitment to excellence make him a valuable asset in the field of investment data management.

Sophie Jelleff, Head of Investment Execution, HESTA

Sophie joined HESTA in April 2024 as the Head of Investment Execution.  She is responsible for the ongoing development and management of a fit for purpose investment operating platform and processes to efficiently manage HESTA’s investment portfolio.  This includes Investment Operations, Performance and Risk Analytics, Operations Due Diligence and Investment Systems and Data. 

Sophie is a seasoned executive with extensive experience over 25 years in financial services including spending 15 years offshore in London, New York and San Francisco before returning to Australia.  Sophie holds a Graduate Diploma in Applied Commerce (University of Melbourne), is a Senior Practitioner in Active Operations Management and completed Accelerating Change Readiness and Agility (US Berkeley Executive Education).  Previously, Sophie qualified for and held FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses during her time in the USA.

Richard Sitosta, Head of Investment Data Management and Reporting, Aware Super

As the head of investment data management and reporting at Aware Super, Richard Sitosta brings over 20 years of extensive experience in investment data management, performance analysis, and reporting.

Richard provides leadership and direction for investment data management, data governance, and investment reporting, developing and implementing best practices to ensure the highest data quality. In this role, he also oversees the investment market data procurement and management strategy, continuously evaluating and centralising the data management function.

Richard also owns and enhances the investment data governance model and framework, offering strategic data expertise and participating in change management activities and projects. Prior to this role, Richard served as an investments specialist at Rest Super.

Before joining the asset owner space, he spent over 12 years at State Street, starting as an associate in State Street Global Services and culminating as vice president in State Street Global Exchange. At State Street, he held multiple roles and wore different hats in shared services, performance and analytics, ex-ante risk analytics, specialist sales, and data management.

Richard holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with degrees in Finance and Legal Management and has over a decade of senior-level experience in the superannuation and financial service industries.
