We would like to thank our sponsor BNP Paribas and guest speakers and panellists for making the FEAL National Conference such a success. Our opening speaker Mark Pesce set up the day describing the future trends which fund executives and leaders need to navigate and the first panel session tackled how these impact the future of fund investment.  Rebecca Engel brought Microsoft’s experience in AI to set up a panel discussion around the future of member engagement and Inventium’s Charlotte Rush provided insights into the future of work for a panel discussion around workforce and organisational design.

Naomi Edwards, Chair of AICD, provided invaluable perspectives from the board and the day concluded with Professor Geoff Martin from Melbourne Business School who leading a discussion around strategy with the industry’s future leaders from the FEAL/MBS Emerging Leaders Program.

It was empowering to hear from our guest speaker, Tristan Knowles AOM, captain of the Australian Men’s Wheelchair Basketball team over the Members’ Dinner following the Conference, before he heads to his 6th Paralympic games.

We would like to thank our sponsor First Sentier Investors, forum guest speakers Vanessa Bennett, CEO, Next Evolution Performance, Josh Hodge, Melbourne Business School and our panelists Michael Dwyer AO, Chair of NSW TCorp and Life Member of FEAL, Chris Davies, CEO, TelstraSuper and FEAL Director, Helen Rowell, APRA and Danielle Press, ASIC, Daniel Shrimski, Managing Director, Vanguard Australia and Adam Gee, Chief Strategy Officer, GROW, Craig Thorburn, Director of Research and Insights, Future Fund, Alexandra Campbell, Deputy CIO, Cbus Super, Michael Weaver, Head of Global Real Assets, ART, and Matthew Kempton, Deputy CIO, Funds SA and our dinner guest speaker John Macpherson, Partner, Ashurst Risk Advisory on a wonderful and thought provoking event.

What our members say

FEAL has been pivotal in providing relevant and timely education for fund executives since its inception nearly 20 years ago. Building on its early ethos of a member-centric professional development model, FEAL has expanded its mandate to the scholarship programs in conjunction with the Melbourne Business School and the London School of economics. These scholarships provide invaluable educational paths to both emerging and current leaders in the superannuation industry. FEAL’s educational forums enable superannuation executives to be exposed to other experts in the financial sector while allowing for networking and strong collegial relationships to develop within the superannuation industry. Long live FEAL!
— Bernard O'Connor, NGS Super
Australia’s super system is world leading and FEAL plays a pivotal role in ensuring the sector has skilled and innovative leaders. The decisions super funds take today can make a huge difference to people’s lives thirty or forty years down the track. As our sector continues to grow with new scale, new opportunities and new technology, FEAL is helping our leaders, and especially our emerging leaders, make the most of the changing landscape.
