September Luncheon Briefing

  • BRIS 5th, MELB 6th & SYD 19th (map)

Burnout – more than just a buzz word. What has led to an increase in burnout and how leaders should respond.

Chronic time pressures, loss of work-life boundaries and mental exhaustion linked to the pandemic have left more Australians feeling burnt out. Within the superannuation industry regulatory pressures, increases in member expectations and challenging economic conditions add additional stress. Fund executives and leaders need to be alert to these pressures and support their teams to avoid incidences of burnout.

Sally Phillips, Head of Health Services for Zurich Australia and New Zealand, explored what burnout is as well as the impacts on life and health. Sally provided some practical recommendations for fund executives and leaders to implement to combat burnout within their teams.

We also heard from a panel of executives on their experiences managing the mental health of their teams through stressful periods.
